Charlotte Chilton opens up about ‘physical torture’ before brain surgery

The star told in a post on Sunday how she was left in ‘physical torture’ due to her symptoms.

The traitors star Charlotte Chilton has shared a new health update, revealing she will undergo brain surgery after being rushed to A&E following a “huge” attack of trigeminal neuralgia.

Trigeminal neuralgia is sudden, severe facial pain. It is often described as a stabbing pain or an electric shock in the jaw, teeth, or gums.

The NHS says: ‘Living with trigeminal neuralgia can be very difficult. It can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life, causing problems such as weight loss, isolation and depression.’

The star, 32, told in a post on Sunday how she was left in “physical torture” due to her symptoms and heartbreakingly wrote: “they call this the disease of suicide for a reason.”

She wrote in a post while sharing a photo of her hospital gown: “As many of you know, I have been trying to raise awareness about the condition of trigeminal neuralgia. Unfortunately, I found myself back in the hospital with a terrible attack and this forced me to need another neurosurgery to control it.

‘Having surgery on the brain is always daunting, however this has long-term relief and allows me to get on with my life.

‘After being rushed to A and E with a major seizure, I have been cared for by the incredible Neuro team at QE Hospital and today I am having surgery to relieve my physical torture.

‘To my TN fans keep fighting to find the right team to support you. There’s a reason they call it the disease of suicide. I am so grateful for my family and friends who have supported me during this hellish week!

Wish me luck and see you on the other side!! #trigeminalneuralgia #trigeminalneuralgiaawareness #trigeminalneuralgiawarrior #neuro #neurologist #surgery #nhs #nhsheroes.’

Last January, Charlotte revealed she was so overwhelmed by the agonizing pain caused by the condition that she considered taking her own life.
