- OpenAI’s GPT-5 is now available, but many users are angry with the new version
- GPT-5 has replaced the previous AI model selection with some users who claim that the update “is horrible”
- Chatgpt Plus subscribers now have limits at the frequency with which they can access reasoning models and have lost access to the oldest most reliable such as O4-MINI and O4-MINI-HIGH
Operai has just launched GPT-5, the next generation of the company’s model that will boost the chatgpt for the foreseeable future.
In a live-hour live broadcast transmission, the Operai CEO, Sam Altman, and his team exhibited GPT-5’s abilities and improvements about his predecessor, GPT-4O.
However, not even 24 hours later and social media sites such as Reddit are flooding with criticism of the new AI model, with many users who are not impressed with the next chatgpt generation.
A Reddit thread entitled “GPT-5 is horrible “has almost 3,000 votes and more than 1,200 comments full of dissatisfied users with the new version.

Many users lose the 4th and 4.1 models, with many comments that say things like “Strange 4.1. Bringing back” and “they should have allowed you to keep the old models while fixing the new.”
There is also an uproar of the subscribers of Chatgpt Plus that feel that the last launch of the AI model has actually limited the functionality of the subscription pays. The new GPT-5 thought model is limited to 200 messages per week, and more subscribers no longer have access to the wide variety of AI models that used to be available, since OpenAi now states that GPT-5 can reason when it is necessary.
Chatgpt literally got worse for each user today. There is no way to obtain thought models reliably. Before we had O4-mini, O4-mini-High and O3. Now we have GPT-5 thinking with 200 messages per week and an router that encloses it exclusively to some children and …August 8, 2025
Is people against change? Or it’s GPT-5 as bad as Internet does
Much of the uproar that surrounds GPT-5 is based on the overvaluation of Sam Altman, who promoted the last announcement as if he were going to revolutionize the world and the way we interact with AI.
Hours before the official revelation of GPT-5, Altman tweeted an image of the death star from Star Wars is coming over the horizon of a planet, hinting at an innovative revolution of the next model of OpenAi. On the other hand, while GPT-5 crushes the reference points compared to its predecessors, it is an incremental update compared to the initial AI revolution when chatgpt was launched for the first time.
For many, having access to the reliable models of ChatgPT-4O, which Altman said they were like talking to a university student against the expert in a doctoral of GPT-5, was better than the unique GPT-5 approach.
Many users report that GPT-5 works worse than 4, but we have not yet tested the new AI model to know with certainty if that is really the case. One thing is safe: OpenAi’s paid subscribers feel a lot made by the new launch, and the company is better to result in launch errors, as slow and bad responses, otherwise their loyal fans base will seek in another place.
