The Kansas City Chiefs started scoring early in their Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday afternoon.
Rookie receiver Xavier Worthy caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomesand the Chiefs took a 6-0 lead.
Worthy appeared to have a Christmas celebration with his teammates and then lifted his jersey.

NFL officials penalized Worthy for the play. But fans were confused as to why the flag was thrown. Some suggested that Worthy may have been pretending to have a gun. Weapon-themed celebrations have been a point of contention among players.
Mahomes threw his second touchdown pass of the game, an 11-yarder to receiver Justin Watson, later in the first quarter.

The Chiefs have struggled all season, but still had a 14-1 record entering their Week 17 matchup against the Steelers.
Worthy has been a bright spot for a receiving corps that has been decimated by injuries. He has 51 receptions for 559 yards and five touchdown receptions this season. He also has three rushing touchdowns.
Last week, Worthy had seven receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown reception against the Houston Texans. It was the second week in a row he received double-digit targets. Before the game against the Cleveland Browns, he had not had more than eight targets in a single game.
Kansas City will secure home-field advantage during the playoffs with a win.
