China presses for ‘improved version’ of CPEC in Pakistan

The Chinese Foreign Minister praised the friendship ‘Ironclad’ between China and Pakistan and reiterated the firm support of his country to Pakistan to safeguard his sovereignty, combat terrorism and follow a path of development adequate for his national conditions.

“China will continue to support Pakistan in playing a more important role in international and regional affairs,” said Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in a statement issued by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang added that both countries should work towards an “improved version” of CPEC, expanding cooperation in areas such as industry, agriculture, energy, mineral resources, human resources development, anti -terrorism and security.

The statement was published after the high -level conversations between the Vice Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who is also the country’s foreign minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to the statement, China and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their strategic cooperative association for all climate. The discussions emphasized bilateral cooperation in safety, economic development and regional stability, while highlighting the objectives shared under the CPEC and the vision of a community of China-Pakistan with a shared future.

The prime minister also reaffirmed the unwavering support of Pakistan at the beginning of a China and expressed admiration for China’s achievements in innovation and technology. He transmitted Pakistan’s desire to expand integral cooperation with China and requested continuous Chinese support to help Pakistan address economic and security challenges.

He also assured his counterpart that Pakistan remains committed to guaranteeing the security of all Chinese staff, projects and institutions operating within their borders.

Previously, Pakistan, China and Afghanistan agreed to extend the CPEC to the Afghan territory, marking a significant step in trilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative.

The agreement occurred during an informal trilateral meeting held in Beijing between the Vice President Prime Minister Dar, the FM China and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The three parties described their vital cooperation for regional stability and agreed that economic integration was key to shared progress. They also emphasized the importance of combating terrorism and working collectively towards peace and sustainable development.
