According to reports, China is making an offer to expand its influence on global gold markets by offering foreign reserves of the Central Bank within its borders.

According to Bloomberg, the Popular Bank of China has used the Shanghai gold exchange in recent months to present the central banks in friendly countries with the idea. At least one country in Southeast Asia has shown interest, they said familiar people with the matter.

The impulse would allow Beijing to strengthen its role as a ingot center and reduce the dependence of Western financial centers. Custodian services are a key part of that infrastructure, which help attract more commercial activity and improve credibility.

Gold analyst Jan Nieuwenhuijs pointed out in X that foreign central banks have been able to store gold in Shanghai since 2014, but absorption has been minimal until now. He added that a country from Southeast Asia, possibly linked to the MBRIDGE cross -border payment project, could be evaluating the option.

The moment occurs when the demand of the Central Bank has backed a powerful bullion rally.

Spot Gold rose up to $ 3,784.74 per ounce in New York on Monday, establishing another record before relaxing slightly. According to Marketwatch, the metal closed last week at $ 3,789.80, 43.59% to date, far ahead of the gain of 17% of Bitcoin, the 12.96% increase of the S&P 500 and the increase of 16.43% of Nasdaq Composite.

Kitco News reported that despite the overcompra conditions, analysts hope that the golden impulse of gold will continue, citing inflation trends and the growing demand for alternatives to US treasurers. Chris Mancini, Gabelli Funds co-carterist, said investors are becoming more and more gold as a substitute for the dollar.

Even so, China faces the competition of established markets such as London, whose vaults have more than 5,000 tons of world reserves. The Gold Council World Cup occupies the fifth place among the gold headlines of the Central Bank, but its internal market for jewels, bars and currencies remains the largest in the world.
