    Bangkok: an explosion in a store in northern Laos killed four people, including Chinese citizens, Beijing General Consulate reported in the country.

    The “explosion” occurred on Friday in a Chinese store in the province of Oudomxay, said the Chinese consulate in Luang Prabang in a statement.

    The cause of the explosion was under investigation, the consulate and local media reported.

    Three people were also injured in the “incident of the fire and explosion” in the store in the Nasao village, according to NATIONAL LAOS RADIO.

    Meanwhile, it caused “significant damage” to the surrounding houses, the state of China Xinhua news agency reported.

    The Consulate said that China’s ambassador to Laos, Fang Hong, was displaying “total efforts” to help treat wounds and help the families of the victims later.
