- Choirs has launched the Nomad smart watch
- It has a variety of characteristics for hikers, climbers, fishermen and more
- Faces face to face with the impressive Garmin Instinct 3
When it comes to smart watches and fitness trackers, the Garmin Instinct 3 is a real favorite here in Techradar: we gave it an almost perfect score when we reviewed it, and we recommend it as one of the best watches without hesitation. However, a rival device has just been released that could give it a race for your money, all at a more affordable price.
This is because choirs has just announced the Nomad smart watch, and has a series of intriguing characteristics. Choirs says it is “designed especially for outdoor adventurers” with custom made tools for hikers, climbers, fishermen and more.
One of the key features is a new adventure newspaper within the Coros application, which can be used to label locations, record voice notes and store photos and videos, with the idea that you can relive the best moments of your outdoor activities at a later date.
On the hardware side, there is a MIP screen for great clarity in the bright sun or low light, in addition to an aluminum and polymer, hardened mineral glass and water resistance up to 50 meters. It also obtains double frequency GPS for navigation, in addition to a wide range of outdoor sports modes, including eight different fishing modes.
Choirs says that when you run the GPS mode of all systems, you will get 50 hours of battery. In standard use, that increases up to 22 days of juice. Both figures go beyond 32 hours and 18 days of instinct 3, respectively (although we will have to confirm the battery life of the nomad in the real world tests to be sure).
When we reviewed the Garmin Instinct 3, we were very impressed by its MIP screen and its wide range of physical conditioning tools. The good news here is that the Nomad choirs is also quite strong in these areas, but is a price of $ 349/£ 319, less than the most affordable Garmin Instinct 3, which begins at $ 399/£ 349.
While choirs will have its work trimmed to overcome the tastes of instinct 3, it is known that the company manufactures sterling smart watches, so it will be interesting to see how the two are compared in everyday scenarios. However, if you are looking for a new smart watch and I like what choirs has to offer, it could be worth it.
