In March, we reported that Chromecasts was receiving a free update for Android 14, and they were, for a while, until Google withdrew the update by air. But now the update has returned! Back! BACK!
There are two versions of the update: a little one for anyone who downloaded the initial update of Android 14 before it was extracted, and one larger for anyone who did not and whose device still executes Android 12.
Chromecast with Google TV and Android 14: What’s new?
The update includes the January 2025 security patch; Find my remote and customizable button for the remote voice control of Google TV Streamer; Various errors corrections; and system optimizations. But the most important thing is to update the Android 12 operating system to Android 14.
According to Google, that means “a more agile and receptive television experience.”
The previous version of the update was extracted in the midst of reports that the external units, some USB devices and some Ethernet adapters did not work properly, but judged by reports on the Reddit sub -edit R/Chromecast, the new update is not causing similar, although it seems that some users still find some small problems.
The new Android 14 update is being implemented for Chromecast with Google TV users (4K) now.
