The Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has presented in the National Assembly the details regarding the export of citrus in the last six months.
According to the documents, from July to December 2024, Pakistan exported 105,690 metric tons of citrus fruits. During the same period, exports of citrus fruits amounted to $ 30.9 million.
Of these, $ 16.72 million in citrus fruits to Afghanistan were exported. Citrus fruits worth $ 3.90 million were exported to the EAU and $ 3.30 million to Indonesia were exported.
A total of 25 countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore and Belgium, the citrus imported from Pakistan.
The minister also presented in the Chamber the details of the commercial deficit in the last five years. According to the documents, the commercial deficit was $ 23.16 billion in 2020, while in 2021, it increased to $ 31.8 billion.
In 2022, the commercial deficit increased even more to $ 48.35 billion; In 2023, the commercial deficit decreased to $ 27.47 billion and in 2024, the commercial deficit decreased to $ 24.11 billion.
