Clayton Kershaw retires after a legendary 18 -year -old MLB race with Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw, possibly the best pitcher since the change of the century, will call him a career at the end of this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that their ace will be retired, which makes its start on Friday the last at Dodger Stadium during the regular season.

Kershaw made his MLB debut in 2008 after being the seventh general selection two years before, and has exceeded all possible expectations since then.

Kershaw’s effectiveness 2.54 is the lowest for any MLB pitcher in the living ball era (since 1920) with at least 1,000 tickets released. He also joined the 3,000 blows club earlier this year and is one of the 11 pitchers to win at least three Cy Young awards. Each of the others that are eligible, apart from Roger Clemens, is in the Hall of Fame.

Kershaw will have spent his entire 18 -year career with the Dodgers, winning the World Series in 2020 and 2024.

The left -hander led the National League in Era five times, including every year from 2011 to 2014. The 2014 campaign may have been the best, since it recorded an effectiveness of 1.77 with six complete games, a whip of 10.8 k/9 and 0.86 MLB leaders and won the MVP. It is still the last starting pitcher to be called MVP.

Only five times Kershaw has launched to an effectiveness above 3.00. This year, it is 3.53.

In addition to his three victories, Kershaw ended up among the top 10 in the Cy Young award voting for six times and was a finalist in three other cases.

Kershaw was appointed All-Star 11 times in his illustrious career, including this summer as an exemption from the MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

The injuries have derail Kershaw during most of the last decade, since it has not made 30 openings since 2015. But when it has been in the field, it has been a wonder not age.

The Dodgers aim to win the NL West, and Kershaw considers it a piece if they hope to repeat as champions.
