Coas also Munir, Chief of Defense of Azerbaijan, discuss regional security


Colonel General Karim Valiyev, first Deputy Minister of Defense and Head of the General Personnel of the Army of Azerbaijan, asked the head of the Syed Army field personnel also at the general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Pakistan radio on Wednesday.

During the meeting, both parties discussed matters of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on the evolutionary global and regional security environment. The two leaders expressed a shared commitment to reinforce defense cooperation and promote joint efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

The Munir Field Marshal reaffirmed the fraternal ties of Pakistan with Azerbaijan and reiterated the resolution to further strengthen bilateral military and diplomatic relations.

He congratulated the visiting dignitary for the successful conclusion of the Peace Agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, qualifying a positive development for the region.

Colonel General Valiyev praised the professionalism of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and recognized his role in recent operations, including Marka-E-HAQ and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. He also extended congratulations on Pakistan’s independence day and related celebrations.

The COA expressed their gratitude to Azerbaijan for their support during national operations and recognized the participation of the contingent of Azerbaijan at the Pakistan Independence Day ceremony.

In a notable gesture, Colonel General Valiyev conferred to the Munir Marshal, the Patriotic War Medal, one of the highest military honors of Azerbaijan, on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. The prize recognized COAS contributions to strengthen Pakistan-Azerbaiyan military cooperation.

Previously, the visiting dignitary was presented with an honor guard in GHQ and placed a crown of flowers in the Yadgar-E-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.

President Zardari meets the Azerbaiyan envoy

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolution to further strengthen his fraternal relations with Azerbaijan during a meeting with Ambassador Khazar Farhadov in Aiwan-E-Sadr.

The president described Azerbaijan as a key partner and highlighted the potential of better cooperation in trade, economy and regional connectivity. He pointed out that deepening the economic ties and contact of people to people would contribute to the prosperity of both nations.

Zardari congratulated the ambassador for the historic peace agreement with Armenia and extended congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan. He described the agreement a step towards lasting peace and regional stability.

The President welcomed the beginning of direct aerial ties between the two countries, qualifying it from a significant development for trade, tourism and bilateral participation. He also thanked Azerbaijan for his unwavering support on the subject of the Indians Jammu and Kashmira, especially within the framework of the IIC contact group.
