COAS informs the president about security situation

Pakistan would defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.

ISLAMABAD:

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Aiwan-e-Sadr and briefed him on the evolving security situation, including Pakistan’s “measured and appropriate response” to Taliban aggression.

The President expressed full confidence in the armed forces and praised their “vigilance and professionalism” in defending Pakistan’s borders. “The nation is united with its army to safeguard the country’s sovereignty at all costs,” he said.

“President Zardari expressed full confidence in the strength, valor, capability and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces,” the media wing of the Presidential Secretariat said in a press release.

The president also reaffirmed that Pakistan will defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.

The latest flare-up marks one of the most serious clashes between Pakistan and the Taliban regime since the group’s takeover of Kabul in 2021, underscoring the growing tension in relations between the two neighbors.
