RAWALPINDI:
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday said Pakistan would not tolerate use of Afghan soil for terrorism against the Pakistani people.
In an interaction here with Shia Ulema, Field Marshal Asim reiterated the determination to eliminate terrorists and their infrastructure, operating against Pakistan, wherever they are, through precise intelligence-based operations.
Issues of national security and the role of ulama in social harmony were discussed during the interaction, according to a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Field Marshal Asim underlined the vital role of the Ulema in promoting unity, tolerance and national cohesion, particularly in combating misinformation, sectarian narratives and externally sponsored destabilization efforts.
The army chief highlighted Pakistan’s efforts and proactive diplomacy in seeking reduction of regional tension. He stressed that religious sentiments should not be exploited to incite violence in the country. Violence in Pakistan based on incidents in another country will not be tolerated, he added.
The participating ulama expressed their desire for peace and stability and strongly condemned violence in the name of religion. They expressed their unconditional support to law enforcement agencies to achieve peace and stability in the country, according to the press release.
