In disbelief, Gound showed his bag empty his team in the stands and seemed to joke with the opponent Olivia Gadecki on the accident.
“Honestly, whenever I have been on tour, my coach has always put the rackets in the bag before the game because it is very superstitious,” Gasff explained about the incident. “I’m blaming my coach. It’s fine.”

“Now that I think about it, it seems that this was the only way to win the game,” Gadecki joked after his loss 6-2, 6-2.

Gounds advanced to the second round where he will face Tereza Valentova on Thursday. The best end of the Americans in the France Open was the final in 2022.
