Kristin Cabot is finally speaking out months after her viral Coldplay on-camera kiss moment cost her her job and caused an internet storm.
In an interview with The New York Times Published on Thursday, December 18, the former Astronomer HR executive reflected on the night she and then-CEO Andy Byron were caught in an intimate embrace during the band’s concert in Boston in July.
Cabot, 53, told the newspaper that she was anxious about going public, but ultimately felt compelled to explain what happened. She insisted that she and Byron were not in a sexual relationship and said they had never kissed before that night.
“I made a bad decision and I had a couple of lunches and I danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” he said, adding that “it’s nothing.”
Cabot said he accepted the consequences, even if they were devastating. “That is the price I chose to pay,” he explained, noting that he “gave up [her] career” about the incident. “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really mess up, but you don’t have to be threatened with death for them.”
she told him Times She and Byron “connected stylistically” when she was interviewed for her role in 2024, and then bonded when they both “went through” breakups. When she invited him as her date to the Coldplay concert, she admitted that she was “in love,” although it wasn’t meant to be a date.
High on dopamine from tequila cocktails and dancing, the pair appeared on the jumbotron, prompting Chris Martin to joke: “Wow, look at these two.” When Byron crouched down and Cabot hid his face, Martin joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy.”
“I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” Cabot said. “I’m the head of human resources and he’s the CEO. It’s so cliché and so bad.”
Both were placed on leave following a board investigation. Byron resigned the next day and Cabot resigned shortly after.
