For Colin Farrell, being chosen The penguin It was, in his words, a “dream come true.”

In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterThe actor looks back at the special moment, describing him as “that child in Dublin who used to draw Batman signals about his jeans.”

But, when he obtained the script for the first time, the actor admits, he did not understand the vision of director Matt Reeves for his character, who first appeared in The Batman.

“I was so excited when I got the script and then I read it and thought ‘I only have five scenes,” he continues. “I really didn’t understand it either. I thought it was a bit silly, a little putz.”

However, Colin adds that his confusion was classified after seeing the look of the villain that was ready to play.

“I will never forget it. Matt was: ‘Enter, enter’. And opened his laptop and showed it to me.

He points out: “Every little Pockmark. The character had a fierce appearance, but he could imagine all aspects of the character’s life, even in motion. He simply gave me a lot of information.”

His character became a success that generated a Spin -off show titled The Penguin. In the series, Colin says he has a lot of time to deepen his character.

“I can do five hours a day riffing like the penguin, and even my sense of humor changes. I would call my children in the character,” says the actor.

Colin, meanwhile, will appear in the next The Batman: Part II.
