Indianapolis colts The excellent and current coach of open receivers Reggie Wayne defended the tears during the first availability of media on Wednesday after the death of the owner Jim Irsay.
It was an emotional moment for Wayne, a six times Pro Bowler and member of the Colts’ Super Bowl The XLI winning team, while talking about their relationship with Irsay, who died while sleeping last week at age 65.

“It’s like losing a family member. There were times when I felt like [Irsay] He treated me as if I were one of his children even though he had none, “Wayne achieved a smile while talking to journalists.

“When you lose something like that, it definitely surprises the soul.”
Irsay began his football career as a ball boy when his father bought the team for the first time in 1972, when the colts still played in Baltimore. Slowly he raised the ranks and became the owner of the youngest team at age 37 when he took over his father after his death in 1997.
“I had the biggest heart in the city. I think we all know how affectionate it was, how easy it was about giving … I think it was definitely the heart of this city,” Wayne continued.

Wayne played his entire 14 -year career with the colts after being recruited outside Miami University With the 30th general selection in 2001. He led the League in receiving yards in 2007, was three times All-Pro and occupies second place in the history of the franchise for most reception records behind Marvin Harrison. He returned to the Colts in 2022 as an assistant coach.

While remembering his time with Irsay, Wayne fought to explain the message he shared with the receivers after learning about Irsay’s death.
“I told the receptors, I said: ‘Many of them really don’t know him, but he would have done something for anyone. He would have given his back clothes,” he said cryingly.
“He worried about his players. He worried about his team. He worried about the city. And they weren’t just the players, he cared about people in the building. It was that guy. And I told them, I said directly ‘man, everyone did not know him, but everyone could push his butt for him. Because he would have done it for himself. He did not really know the type of person he was'”

Irsay fought against health and addiction problems in her life. Despite his struggles, he restored glory to the franchise and left an eternal impact on the organization.
