The US male soccer team had stood out due to their young talent, but no coach has been able to unlock the ability to make real waves on the global stage. The United States failed to have an impact on the Copa América last summer, which finally finished the mandate of Gregg Berhalter.
The current coach Mauricio Pochettino was hired to push the 2026 World Cup, but the losses have thrown cold water upon arrival.
Donovan finished listening to the talent on the list.
“I am so tired of listening to how ‘talented’ this group of players and all incredible clubs for those who play,” Donovan wrote in X. “If you are not going to appear and really give how!%* About playing for your national team, rejecting the invitation. The talent is great, pride is better.”
Pochettino said that if the team is fighting in a year, the alarm would sound, but it was not yet ready to do it.

The USMNT needs more of its biggest star Christian Pulisic: “I’m not happy with my production”
“Everything is a process that we need to change, and I don’t want to say that I am happy, they don’t melt,” said Pochettino. “But if (there is) something negative about the result, something to learn, it is better now, because I think we have time.”
Fortunately for Americans, the United States is already in the World Cup in 2026, because it is organizing the event. Pochettino said there is still time.
“We could not discover and try to extend our strategy to the team, the ability to play differently,” said Pochettino. “I think we have time. I prefer that this happened today, and not in a year.”
The United States has 5-3 since Pochettino took over.

The loss against Canada on Sunday night was the first time that Americans lost a competitive party in Canada on American soil since 1957. Men had not lost consecutive games in Canada since 1980 and 1985.
