Cops supposedly violate children in jail: report

Hyderabad:

The Children’s Security Commission, a social organization dedicated to preventing child abuse, has condemned the recent incident of inappropriate sexual behavior by a police officer against a prisoner in the Youth Chamber of the Central Prison of Hyderabad. The commission has requested a strict punitive action against those responsible.

The members of the Children’s Security Commission expressed a deep concern for the disturbing incident.

“Such acts not only constitute human rights violations, but also highlight critical failures within judicial and correctional systems.”

The Commission proposed a solid monitoring system that includes representatives of the Judiciary, the legal fraternity, human rights organizations, agencies for the application of the law, civil society and social welfare groups. They recommended that the designated monitors carry out jail inspections every 15 days to identify and address these incidents effectively.

The Commission also suggested the installation of a complaints box within the prison facilities, allowing prisoners to inform abuses without fear of reprisals.
