- ADAPT X Compal The modular laptop reduces waste with fully replaceable components
- Adapt x evolves instead of sliding in obsolescence
- Admits the modular and a functional center
The Taiwanese manufacturer Compal Electronics has presented a conceptual device, Adapt X, a modular commercial portable computer designed to extend the life of the device and reduce electronic waste.
ADAPT X presents 14 and 16 inches screens, equipped with type C interfaces and a functional center that expands input and output options through modular units.
It also comes with a removable secondary screen that can act as a business monitor, placed for perfect or high multitasking for an extended work space.
Modular design for extended usability
Developed as an alternative of flexible and customizable modular in the same line as Framework products, Adapt X combines metal aesthetic with sustainability, which is worth an IF design award for 2025.
Users can exchange or update components independently, reducing the frequency of update and cost reduction. The ultra thin and removable keyboard offers an experience similar to a tablet.
Meanwhile, the additional screen removable is useful for administering multiple Windows simultaneously, which makes the ADAPT X a laptop useful for programming and one of the best laptops for trade.
If you are completely done, this approach could create a recyclable and improvable laptop with a minimum environmental impact, hinting at a future where ‘eternal’ devices, evolving with users, are conventional.
