ISLAMABAD:
An Anti-Terrorism Court on Friday awarded the death penalty to an accused convicted in the murder case of former Attorney General Sardar Muhammad Khan.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Supra announced the verdict in the case. Prosecutor Raja Naveed pursued the case on behalf of the federal government.
The court acquitted co-accused Waqif Khan for lack of evidence and twice announced death sentence for accused Rohullah after he was found guilty in the case.
Prosecutor Raja Naveed said the accused Rohullah had escaped from police custody in 2013. He was accused of killing former attorney general Sardar Muhammad Khan in area F-10 of Shalimar police station.
The prosecutor said police also recovered the murder weapon from the accused. He was also sentenced to a fine of 500,000 rupees and compensation of 500,000 rupees.
