The Pakistan newspaper editors council (CPNE) has chosen the new office bearer in an annual election held by 2025-26.
According to CPNE’s statement, Kazim Khan of the Duniya newspaper was elected as president of CPNE and Ghulam Nabi Chandio del Daily Pak as general secretary.
The other carriers of chosen charges include Ayaz Khan (senior vice president), Tanveer Shaukat (general secretary of the deputy director), Hamid Hussain Abidi (Secretary of Finance) and Zia Tanoli (Secretary of Information).
Qazi Asad Abid, Adnan Zafar, Yahya Khan Sadozai, Mian Hassan Ahmed and Munir Ahmed Baloch were chosen as vice presidents, while Tahir Farooq, Munazza Seham, Rafay Niazi, Arif Baloch and Waqas Tariq Faroq as joint secretaries.
In Addition, Dr Jabbar Khattak, Ikram Sehgal, Akmal Chohan, Babar Nizami, Maqsood Yousufi, Sher Muhammad Khawer, Sardar Muhammad Siraj, Mudassar Iqbal, Muhammad Owais Razi, Shehzad Amin, Irfan Athar, Shakeel Ahmed Turabi, Tazeen Akhtar, Anwar Sajdi, Mumtaz Ahmed Sadiq, Faqir Muntha Ali Afghan, Ayaz Memon, Mudassar Alam and Mehmood Alam Khalid were chosen as members of the CPNE Permanent Committee.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, the main provincial ministers, political leaders and others congratulated the newly elected carriers of the position of the newspaper editors of the Council of Pakistan (CPNE) about their success in the elections.
