CPNE Voices cares about press freedom

The newspaper publishers of the Council of Pakistan (CPNE) have expressed a deep concern for the restrictions on press freedom and the challenges facing the media industry printed in the country.

The concerns were raised during a CPNE Permanent Committee meeting, chaired by President Irshad Ahmed Arif, who emphasized the critical role of the media printed in the promotion of responsible journalism.

He pointed out that while social networks are often the source of government complaints, the main media have the consequences unfairly, facing threats growing their independence.

Arif said that punitive measures against media organizations and journalists are increasing, adding that despite government statements of national progress, printed media are in a state of decline due to official negligence.

Those present at the meeting included Secretary General Ejazul Haq, Vice President Senior Anwar Sajidi, general secretary Ghulam Nabi Chandio, vice presidents Amir Mehmood, Tahir Farooq, Yahya Khan Sadozai, Babar Nizami, SECONDARY SECRETARIES ARIF BALOCH, MUNAZZA SE HAMID HAMID HUSSAIN ABIDI Zia Tanoli, and Members Including Kazim Khan, Ayaz Khan, Abdul Khaliq Ali, Abdul Rehman Mangrio, Aslam Mian, Bilal Aslam, Bashir Ahmed Memon, Dr Jabbar Khattak, Dr Zubair Mehmood, Fazal Haq, Qazi Asad Abid, Maqsood Yousafzai, Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Owais Razi, Sajjad Abbasi, Sardar Muhammad Siraj, Shehzad Amin, Shakeel Ahmed Turabi, Sher Muhammad, Syed Masoor Zanjani and Zulfiqar Ahmed Rahat.

The observers included Dure Nayab, Jamil Ahmad Qazi, Usman Ghani Saifi and Ayub Chauhan.
