Crypto Hackers robbed $ 1.67b in the first quarter, a 300% increase in the anterior quarter: Certik

The Blockchain Certik security firm has revealed that computer pirates stole $ 1.67 billion in cryptography in the first quarter of 2025, an increase of 303% in the previous quarter.

The figure is two thirds of the total amount stolen in 2024, although it is worth noting that the majority of Q1 losses can be attributed to the Bybit trick of $ 1.45 billion.

In addition to that, Certik analyzed 197 piracy incidents in Q1, 98 of which occurred in Ethereum.

The two largest hacks following bybit were the phemex robbery of $ 71 million in January and the exploit of $ 49.5 million suffered by Crypto Neobank Infini.

Phishing attacks, which involve stealing the credentials of a victim to obtain access to personal accounts, remains the highest attack vector that represents 81 incidents. There were also 15 private key commitment incidents.

Only 0.38% of the stolen funds in Q1 have been returned compared to 42.09% in the previous quarter, which makes the tight loss much higher. In February no stolen funds were returned.
