Cyber crime agency summons Aleema Khan about the ‘anti-state’ publications

Islamabad:

The National Cyber Crime Research Agency (NCCIA) has issued a notice that summons Aleema Khan in relation to the alleged antistatal activities carried out through social networks.

According to sources within the NCCIA, Aleema has been ordered to appear in person in the agency’s office in Gulberg-II on Thursday at 11:30 am the citation is related to a consultation linked to a case registered against it on May 27, 2025.

Officials said Express news that the purpose of his appearance is to register a statement in his defense. The investigation refers to the accusations that Aleema participated in the online activity that was considered hostile to the State.

The notice warned that breach would be interpreted as a rejection or inability to present a defense. In addition, he declared that in case of non -compliance, legal procedures would advance in absence.

The NCCIA warned that the lack of appearance could result in an action under section 174 of the Pakistan Criminal Code, which deals with non -assistance in response to an order of a public servant. In that case, said the agency, the arrest could be justified.

The Federal Government formally established the NCCIA last year, replacing the cybercrime wing of the Federal Research Agency. The new body had had the task of handling a growing number of online crimes.

At the time of the creation of the NCCIA, the Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, had declared that the authority was established to address issues such as online harassment, erroneous information and the propagation of anti-state propaganda, while safeguarding the digital rights of citizens.
