Czech skier Tereza Nova, who competed for her country in four Olympic races in 2022, was medically induced in a coma after needing brain surgery on Saturday after an accident downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Nova was in his last training session on Friday when he crashed in the Kandahar circuit.

The Czech Ski Federation said that Nova required surgery to reduce cerebral inflammation and that “it will remain in a medically induced coma as long as the medical team considers it necessary.”

“We all think of Tereza and wish him a speedy recovery and a lot of strength,” said the ski federation on Saturday.

Nova, 26, participated in four races during the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.

Its best result was 14 position during the combined female alpine test. He also competed in parallel by mixed teams, where he also ended 14th, female decline (28th) and female super-g (33º).

Nova has also competed in the World Cup races since 2019, where she debuted in November, although she did not qualify for the second round of the Slalom test in Levi.
