The former NFL field marshal, Dan Orlovsky, has a very solid opinion with respect to Terry McLaurin who keeps Washington’s commanders: pays the man.
During the “first shot” of ESPN, the quartback turned into Analyst took a strong opportunity to the commanders for not paying their superior receiver, who has been with the franchise in the training camp due to a contract dispute.

“Respectfully, Washington, you were a fire in the garbage container for years,” Orlovsky told the panel. “You were a laugh. The only good thing about your organization was that young man. Every year, he did. Year after year, for five or six years, with a disaster around you.”
The commanders were the surprise of the NFL last season, since the rookie field marshal Jayden Daniels and a new coaching staff led by Dan Quinn pumped a new life to the franchise looking for his first postseason position since 2020, but did much more than that.

Washington bothered the Detroit Lions along the way in the divisional round to meet in the NFC championship game for the first time, since he won the Super Bowl in 1991. They could not make “the great game”, but it was clear with Daniels in the center that the commanders would be a playoff contender in the coming years.
But McLaurin, a third -round selection of Washington out of Ohio’s state in 2019, has passed through the thick and thin with the franchise, as Orlovsky alluded. And with his contract after this season, he is looking for another extension to remain a piece of cornerstone of the offensive and, more importantly, Daniels’ favorite weapon in the pass game in the coming years.
According to reports, the problem is that the franchise does not see McLaurin as someone who should be earning at least $ 32 million per season as other higher receptors obtained their new agreements this low season. The Pittsburgh Steelers, after trade with the Seattle Seahawks, gave DK Metcalf that kind of agreement.

Orlovsky says that Washington needs to consider McLaurin as a need for his offense to work in the way he wants in 2025.
“If you don’t have it, you delete everything you did last year,” said Orlovsky. “Everything you did. And I am being respectful of Dan Quinn and [general manager] Adams Peters and what they did last year. You need it. Give me receptors that impact winning as much or no more than Terry McLaurin. … I’ll give you [Bengals’] Ja’mar [Chase]. I would give you [Vikings’] Justin [Jefferson]. [Lions’] Amon-ra St. Brown. Impacts win. … What are we doing in Washington? “
McLaurin, 29, totaled at least 1,000 yards in each of his last five seasons with the commanders, with the time of 1,096 with 13 touchdowns in 17 regular seasonal games last year. Then, he caught 14 passes for 227 yards and three scores in the playoffs for Washington.

McLaurin can be in the building, but you still have to practice with your teammates until you get a paper agreement. There has been a generalized debate about what it deserves in the market, but Orlovsky is clearly on the side of paying McLaurin what he wants.
If they do not, McLaurin already lacks games in 2025, he certainly believes that the offensive will not work as well as in 2024.
