Medvedev was enraged by the decision of President Greg Allensworth to grant a first service to his opponent after a photographer entered the court at the starting point. Allensworth told the photographer to leave the court and that Bonzi would get another first service due to the delay. Medvedev was in arms for the decision.

“He wants to go home, boys. He doesn’t like being here. He is paid for the game, not for the time,” he was heard in the microphones that told the referee.

Medvedev said he was upset with the decision and that he did not believe that the photographer’s interruption was long enough to justify the restart of the point. A spokesman for the US Tennis Association.

“I wasn’t upset with the photographer. I was upset with the decision,” said Medvedev. “The photographer’s delay was probably four and a half seconds. I’m not sure it’s enough for a (first) service.”

Medvedev also referred to the past criticism of Reilly Opelka to the referee in his diatribe. He hit kisses to fans and encouraged strong boos.

Bonzi suggested that Medvedev’s behavior crossed the line.

“I mean, the rule is the rule. The guy went to the court between two portions,” said Bonzi. “I mean, it’s not my call to say first service. And I think so, Daniil began it, and he put oil in fire.”
