Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 episode 4 debuted on Disney+ and its final scene will have important repercussions for its remaining episodes.
Titled ‘Gloves Off,’ the latest entry in the Marvel television show culminates with a high-stakes showdown involving Daredevil, Bullseye, and the Fisks at a charity boxing event. And, considering it ends with the possible death of a major character, things may never be the same for Matt Murdock and company in the future.

What happens in the finale of episode 4 of season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again?
As you know, the Disney+ show has been gearing up for a charity boxing match featuring New York’s autocratic mayor, Wilson Fisk. This has been teased since the second episode of this season, which showed Fisk, aka Kingpin, training with his trainer in preparation for the fight.
fast forward to Daredevil: Born AgainIn the last episode, we learn that Fisk not only wants his wife Vanessa not to be sitting in the front row; he doesn’t want her there at all.
The reason? Diana. Real name Benjamin Pointdexter, the sociopathic vigilante has been targeting the Fisks since they forced him to kill Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born AgainSeason 1 premiere. It is Vanessa who is also trained in her sights, after born again Season 1, episode 8 revealed that she was responsible for taking the hit on Foggy.
Wanting revenge for tricking him into murdering Foggy, Bullseye has tried to murder Vanessa before, and that failed attempt came in the penultimate episode of last season. Now, with the likelihood that she will be watching her husband in the next fight, Bullseye has another chance to complete the mission he has set for himself to kill her.

That brings us to the final minutes of ‘Gloves Off’. Against her husband’s wishes, Vanessa appears at the charity event. Not long after, Bullseye also arrives on the scene, dispatching the Anti-Surveillance Task Force (AVTF) guards on duty and heading straight for Vanessa.
In the resulting chaos, Bullseye throws Vanessa a small souvenir glass bust of Wilson Fisk, which is for sale at the event, which Wilson stops with the belt he just won.
At the same time, Pointdexter is shot by another AVTF gunman. However, as Wilson Fisk prepares to permanently finish off Bullseye with a bullet from his own gun, Daredevil comes to the rescue. Disarming Fisk with a well-placed baton throw, Murdock’s masked alter ego grabs the wounded Pointdexter and the pair leap through the venue’s front window to escape.
A furious Wilson Fisk watches, but his anger soon turns to horror. Listen to “…Wilson?” Said weakly by Vanessa, he turns and sees that a shard of broken glass from the deviated bust has lodged in Vanessa’s right temple. As blood gushes from the wound, a panicked Wilson runs towards her as she collapses. Cue Fisk yelling for a medic before the screen goes black.
Will Vanessa Fisk die in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 5?

You would think so. Suffering any type of head injury is cause for serious concern, but the one Vanessa has means it doesn’t look good for her chances of survival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The likelihood of him living beyond the next episode decreases significantly when you also take into account comments made by Wilson Fisk actor Vincent D’Onofrio. In fact, right after this season premiered, D’Onofrio seemed to spoil that Vanessa will die in Born again 2 in a recent episode of the series’ official podcast.
Now, it’s plausible that D’Onofrio was referring to someone else when he said, “So Fisk’s concern is that the public thinks—might think—that his death is worrying him.” It’s also possible that, with the best medical minds at Wilson Fisk’s disposal, Vanessa could live to fight another day.
However, other comments from D’Onofrio indicate that he will not do so.
Speaking to IGN in March 2025, he revealed that he “had to cry a little” over the scripts for the second season of the Marvel Phase 6 television show. What would provoke such an emotional reaction in someone who has played the same character for over a decade than the death of said individual’s lover? And, if she dies, what impact will that have on Fisk’s relentless crackdown not only on vigilantes and their supporters, but also on his heavy-handed rule over New York City?
It’s true that I’ve seen all eight episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, so I know the outcome of this particular plot thread. But don’t worry, I’m not saying anything else. You’ll just have to tune in to one of the world’s best streaming services next week to find out what happens.
