
Dave Allen, former bassist and one of the original Gang of Four members, died at the age of 69.
The rock star shot at fame in the late 1970s and now the current alignment consisting of musicians Jon King, Hugo Burnham, Gail Greenwood and Ted Leo, announced their death through social networks.
Taking Instagram, the bad members wrote: “It is with broken but complete hearts that we share the news that Dave Allen, our former music companion, friend and brilliant musician, died on Saturday morning. He was at home with his family.”
“Dave had suffered the early beginning of mixed dementia for some years, which has been a heartbreaking moment for his wife Paddy, his children and close friends,” they explained.
Four gang continued: “Our love and thoughts are with them. Jon and I [Hugo] I went to see him and spent a lovely afternoon with him and the family.
“We talk and laugh for hours, sharing rich and vivid memories of good times together. Adventures, careers in music, raising families, our intertwined lives that cover half a century. We have been very lucky to have had the handle in our lives,” they mentioned more.
Dave’s disappearance is produced in the midst of Gang of Four plans to execute his farewell tour in the United States and that his former bassist joins them on stage as soon as they arrived in his city.
“We know that Dave would have wanted nothing more than get on stage with us again in Portland on our US farewell tour .. but now it is a bridge too far. Goodbye, old friend,” the publication concluded.
