Before the New York Yankees swept the Cardinals of San Luis along the way during the weekend, the five -time World Series champion and the current Yankees analyst, David Cone, believed that the team had all the right pieces to run towards the postseason.
The Yankees were in the middle of their fall with a close postseason race of the American League that turned around at that time. Some Yankees fans were nervous that the renowned American league champions would not reach the postseason completely and, of course, that is a possibility.
But cone could not be more optimistic about this group despite their mid -season problems.

“I would surprise me a lot if they don’t make the postseason,” Cone told Pak Gazette Digital by phone.
“I think they finally have all the pieces in the right place at this time. They left, during most of the season, without a third base. They have solved that problem and jazz [Chisholm Jr. is] Back in the second base. [Giancarlo] Stanton can play the right garden, their bullpen was renewed with [David] Bednar in the back-end right now. It seems that, at least, they have all the holes and can advance from here instead of being weak in a certain area. “
The Yankees are winners of seven of their last 10 games, which places them in 67-57 in the year. They are still chasing the Toronto Blue Jays for their old place leading the East of the American League, but in five games in that sense, fans are more focused on the American League Commodines race.

Three teams from each League enter, as well as the winners of the division, and New York, the Red Boston socks and the Seattle sailors are competing for the two best places of Wild Card in the American League.
Meanwhile, Cleveland’s guardians, with 64-60, stalk three games behind the Yankees, which means that it is not a soft navigation until October. Cone knows very well what is needed to reach the promised land that is the postseason, so he knows what the Yankees must do to make sure they get there.
Start with the initial launch.

“They certainly need Max Fried to start again,” Cone explained. “[Carlos] Rodon has been good. I think that a great elevator also, for [Cam] Schlittler. An arm of young power is a great elevator for rotation. Will Warren too. Then, suddenly, it seems that children are collecting the slack. It seems a bit of perhaps the regression of Max Fried to the average, so to speak. It was so good in the first half that a couple of evils owed or to fight a little and he has done it. Rodon also sometimes, but for the most part everything is aligned to run. “
Then, they are the bats that helped take the Yankees to the World Series in 2024, although Juan Soto, who joined the New York Mets this low season.
“The last piece of the puzzle was Aaron’s judge. How serious was his injury, and can giancarlo Stanton play the right garden? Both have returned, so those questions have also been answered,” said Cone. “I feel that the best they can be aligned. They are aligned to make a fairly decent race in the section. I hope they reach the playoffs, although nothing is a fact due to the way Cleveland has been playing.”
But there are those fans who say that this year’s team is not up to the 2024 team, and it certainly has sometimes felt this season. The Yankees have had two losing gusts of six separate games, with bad foundations in all the facets that appear during those sections.
Although the defense played a factor for not winning the World Series against Los Angeles Dodgers, the Yankees did not have so many question signs prior to October.

However, Cone sent a reminder to all Yankees fans: it doesn’t matter what you do in the regular season, as long as you reach the playoffs.
It only takes the winners of the 2000 World Series that was part, for example.
“We won 87 games and we were not so great,” Cone said about the 2000 Yankees that were 87-74 during the regular season, which beat them the division. “But once the bell rang and we reached the postseason, we knew what to do and there was a lot of confidence there.
“The battle is tested in the postseason and arrive at the World Series last year. So, absolutely entering the postseason means that they have that experience … I think this group also has that confidence. I think it is only to get there and they could be very dangerous in the postseason. They have experience, but anticipate that they get there. I really do it.”

With 38 remaining games during the regular season, which is full of key divisional confrontations and possible tiebreaker scenarios, the Yankees playoffs begin a little earlier to ensure that place they desperately want.
