“Our hearts are heavy, and the Yankees family is full of pain after learning of Miller Gardner’s death,” the team said in a statement on Sunday. “Words feel insignificant and insufficient to try to describe such an unimaginable loss. It was not only Brett who literally grew in this organization for more than 17 years, like his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Hunter and Miller.

“We afflicted with Brett, Jessica, Hunter and his community of family and friends when crying the loss of Miller, who had a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and fighter personality, and a warm and loving nature. Our love for the Gardner family is unconditional and absolute, and we will offer our durable support while understanding their desire for privacy at this time.

“May Miller rest in peace.”

Marisel Rodríguez Solis, press manager of the Judicial Investigation Police of Costa Rica (OIJ), told Pak Gazette that the investigation has changed to a possible food poisoning as the most likely cause, but asphyxiation has not been ruled out.

The results of forensic and pathology tests could take between one and four months.

The Gardner family stayed at the Arenas del Mar Hotel in Manuel Antonio and ate in an Italian restaurant at a nearby hotel on March 20. The four family members began to feel sick at 11 in the afternoon, where they were staying.

The Arenas del Mar Hotel called a doctor to give them medications to help with stomach problems. The next morning, Miller Gardner was found dead with vomit traces.
