The Colorado Buffaloes and Deion Sanders ended a losing streak against teams ranked in The Associated Press top 25 poll on Saturday with a 24-17 victory against No. 22 Iowa State.

Buffaloes fans at Boulder Stadium rose from their seats and walked onto the field after the victory, even as the announcer warned fans that the school will likely be fined by the Big 12 Conference for its role in the field assault.

Sanders was perplexed that the celebration could lead to a fine.

“Is it a fine?” Sanders asked after the game. “Come on, man. That’s not cool… I want to see the kids running on the field. I love it.”

The crowd immediately rushed to midfield after Colorado star quarterback Kaidon Salter took a final kneel to end the game.

“I mean, kudos to our security team. They do a good job escorting me (to the locker room),” Sanders said. “But I love watching it. I really love it.”

Colorado will likely be fined $50,000 for the incident.

“What’s $50,000 for hustling in the field?” Sanders said. “Wow. Shoot. Sorry. Wow, 50 grand.”

Two weeks ago, the Big 12 fined Colorado $50,000 for directing religious slurs and insults toward members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when BYU defeated the Buffaloes 24-21.
