Delegation from the United States to visit Islamabad for Leads about minerals and commerce


An American delegation, directed by Eric Meyer, the senior official who supervises the South and Central Asia Office in the State Department, will visit Islamabad from April 8 to 10, 2025.

The visit aims to promote US interests in the critical mineral sector in the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum (PMIF25), organized by the Oil and Gas Limited Gas Development Company (OGDCL) in collaboration with the Pakistan government.

The forum, which will take place from April 8 to 9 at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, will serve as a key platform for world interested parties to explore investment opportunities in the Pakistan emerging mineral sector. The vast mineral potential of the country is expected to highlight.

During his trip, Meyer will meet with senior Pakistani officials to promote economic ties and explore roads for US companies to invest in the panorama rich in Pakistan minerals.

Beyond economic discussions, Meyer is also expected to meet senior officials to strengthen continuous cooperation in contracterrorism.In particular, the government led by Shehbaz Sharif plans to present the estimates 600,000 square kilometers of mineral outcrop areas of the country to potential partners.

With 92 known minerals and 52 commercially extracted, the Pakistan mining sector supports more than 5,000 operational mines, 50,000 SME and directly employ 300,000 workers.

The visit continues to the imposition of President Donald Trump of a reciprocal rate of 29% on the imported goods of Pakistan, in addition to the tariffs of the assets of several countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed two special organizations to address the problem and develop a political response.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurengzeb said a delegation will travel to Washington to press the case of Pakistan.
