Deng Mayer of Omaha dies in a drowning incident

Omaha’s male basketball player, Deng Mayo, died on Saturday in a drowning incident, the school announced Sunday. He was 22 years old.

The incident occurred in the Blackridge reservoir in Herriman, Utah, on Saturday, according to Fox 13 Salt Lake City. May and Sa Mafutaga, 21, were fighting in the water. Mafutaga was able to reach the shore with the help of some spectators and tried to reach May, but could not contact him. The emergency personnel were called to the scene.

Emergency officials could not find it for hours before they used a submersible robot to locate their body, according to the point of sale. Mafutaga was taken to a hospital, but he was expected to recover.
