LAHORE:
Pakistan has continued its closure of airspace for loading services and cargo services for the 22nd consecutive day, aviation sources said Saturday, following the growing tensions after the Pahalgam incident and the largest hostilities of India-Pakistan.
The prohibition, imposed almost three weeks ago, has resulted in important operational and financial setbacks for Indian operators. Aviation experts estimate losses to India in more than 5 billion rupees due to the costs of redirects, longer flight durations and suspended load operations.
Indian passenger airlines, including long -distance carriers that operate flights to Europe, the United States, Canada and other Western destinations, are among the most affected.
“The flights now have to take significantly longer routes, adding between 2.5 and 3 hours to their total travel time,” said a senior aviation official.
The cargo sector has also been affected, with cargo services to and from India that face delays and higher fuel and logistics costs due to ongoing restrictions.
