PESHAWAR:
Since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest at Islamabad’s D Chowk on November 24, more than 140 PTI leaders and members of the national and provincial assemblies have approached the Peshawar High Court.
Also, details have emerged about the cases filed against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, with nearly 65 references against him. So far, more than 70 interim bail petitions and 69 protective bail petitions have been heard in the Peshawar High Court.
All the petitioners have been granted provisional and protective bonds. The petitioners include Bushra Imran Khan, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Khadija Shah, Sanam Javed, Aliya Hamza and other key party officials.
Following the registration of cases against PTI leaders and workers following the Islamabad protest, most of the party functionaries approached the Peshawar High Court for protective and interim bail.
After November 28, PTI leaders and officials, including members of the Punjab provincial assembly, filed writ petitions in the Peshawar High Court. Senior PTI leaders have also filed applications seeking details of the cases registered against them.
PTI General Secretary Salman Akram and National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub have obtained interim and protective bail from the court.
Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, was also granted protective bail by the Peshawar High Court till January 16. Members of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Sher Afzal Marwat, Junaid Akbar and Senator Shibli Faraz also appeared in court for protective bail.
Other members of the National Assembly, including Shehryar Afridi, Atif Khan, Shahram Tarakai, Adil Bazi, Anwar Taj, Faisal Amin and others, have also been granted protective bail. Provincial ministers Aftab Alam, Faisal Tarakai, Sohail Afridi and others were also granted protective bail. Members of the National Assembly, including Shandana Gulzar, Zartaj Gul, Vice President Surayya Bibi, Senator Falak Naz, Kanwal Shozeb, Aliya Hamza, Sanam Javed, Khadija Shah, Mashal Yousafzai and Hamida Shah, have also been granted provisional releases and protection. the Peshawar High Court.
The Peshawar High Court has also provided relief to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Shahram Tarakai, Sher Ali Arbab and Fazal Mehmood.
