DG Khan authorities on the fingers for floods

The heavy rains in Koh-E-Suleman, Taunsa, Fort Munro, the city of Dera and the surrounding areas are causing a situation similar to flood due to excessive entry of water in different currents of the rivers.

According to a report from the Irrigation Department, Kora River Stream has a flow of 17,570 Cusecs, Vohova has 20,805 Cusecs, Sunghar has 11,540 Cusecs and Sori Lund has 29,270 Cusecs. Waddor River Stream has a high flood level of 40,611 Cusecs and Sakhi Sarwar has an extremely high level flood in 32,570 CUSECS, while Mithan has 6.001 Cusecs.

The DG Khan district administration has been put on a maximum alert after predictions of stronger rains by the Pakistan Department of Meteorology. In advance of possible floods, the staff has deployed in the mountain passes to continuously monitor rivers.

The attached commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid visited the Waddor Spillway, where officials informed him about the capacity of the river water, drainage, protective embankments and other key issues. He said that heavy rains in the mountainous chains of Koh-E-Sulaiman and Baluchistan could lead to floods in the district, affecting seven main rivers and pressing a risk for nearby settlements.

The DC ordered all the relevant departments that remain in maximum alert, guarantee the authorization of river routes, the elimination of invasions and public awareness.
