Madonna’s costume designer Marlene Stewart recalled the singer’s wedding to Sean Penn.
The Queen of Pop’s longtime costume designer, recalling the wedding, which took place in 1985, said Better magazine, “It was in a house in Malibu. The roads were inaccessible because the press was everywhere.”
Marlene added: “We were planning to do a test and take pictures. But the police stopped me! I insisted I had to pass.”
He further added that there were no cell phones and said, “So you had pagers and I was just trying to locate someone.”
According to the costume designer, she was “finally” able to pull off the dress.
“In the end I made it and Herb Ritts [the photographer of Madonna’s ‘True Blue’ album cover] “I took a photo of her getting ready in the bathroom and I was under her dress, pulling up her garter belt!” she recalled.
