- Avengers: Judgment DayThe release date could change again.
- An insider has claimed that Marvel executives have discussed such a possibility.
- This time, however, it could be brought forward a week to avoid Dune: Part 3
Avengers: Judgment DayThe release date will reportedly be changed again, but this time, it could not only be a welcome change, but also a very significant one.
According to industry insider John Campea, Marvel is seriously considering bumping up its release by a week to December 11, 2026. Currently, Doomsday will hit theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026.
Originally scheduled to arrive on May 1, 2025, Avengers 5 was delayed a year to May 2, 2026, due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Then last May, the comic book titan further delayed one of this year’s most exciting new movies to allow more time to complete production.

However, with the latest release date set, fans soon took notice. Doomsday would come face to face with another highly anticipated sequel in Dune: Part 3. This latest film, which is expected to conclude the epic sci-fi film trilogy starring Timothy Chalament and Zendaya, will also hit theaters around the world on December 18.
In a move reminiscent of ‘Barbenheimer’, the theatrical phenomenon in which Barbie and Oppenheimer premiered on the same day in July 2023, audiences have since dubbed December 18, 2026 as ‘Dunesday.’ Like ‘Barbenheimer’, some moviegoers have already announced that they will participate in ‘Dunesday’, preparing to see back-to-back screenings of the Marvel and Warner Bros. films.
Now, however, Campea has suggested that those fans might want to revisit those plans amid rumors that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie might not come out on that date after all.
Why Avengers: Doomsday could be released a week earlier than expected
On the latest edition of The John Campea Show, its host, whose track record can be described as mixed or fairly accurate, revealed what he heard about a possible date change.
Campea begins by reminding his listeners that jumanji 3which was going to launch on December 11, will now open on December 25 (aka Christmas Day). The reason? People are likely to save their money to see Doomsday I Dune 3. Moving next jumanji So, releasing the film until after that pair has come out seems to be a wise move.
Naturally, that opens up a spot on December 11, and according to Campea, who cites an article from The Wrap and the latest edition of The Big Picture Podcast that similarly discusses a release date revision, that represents a perfect opportunity for Marvel.
Yeah Doomsday and Dune 3 Still landing on December 18, the Marvel Phase 6 movie will be at a huge disadvantage because Warner Bros. has already locked in an exclusive three-week window for each IMAX screen. That’s the case in the US anyway: it will be available in IMAX in some international territories, but definitely not in the United States.
I don’t need to tell you that it’s a big deal for Marvel, which would have hoped to entice audiences to see the next Avengers movie on the biggest, loudest screens possible. However, if Marvel Studios moves DoomsdayWith the one-week launch, it will ensure at least seven days of IMAX ticket revenue. Plus, if fans want to see the superhero movie on the best screen possible, they’ll flock to see it in IMAX first. Dune 3 debuts a week later.
For now, this is all just speculation. However, after Campea contacted one of his sources, he was told that “discussions have taken place” among Marvel executives about possible changes. Avengers: Judgment DayThe release date.
So will it be? Marvel Studios is very secretive about things at the best of times, so we won’t know if this rumor had any traction until, well, the comics giant officially announces a release date change on social media. Until then, your guess is as good as mine. In the meantime, find out everything we know so far about Avengers: Judgment Day.
