While there are Disney Parks around the world, there is always something special in the first. And at this time, Disneyland, the park that began in 1955, celebrates its 70th anniversary, and you could say that it is organizing a party.
And celebrate the past and look to the future. As the celebration is on Swing, you will see the return of the spectacular classic nightclubs and the introduction of completely new others, updates of some favorite fans, a treasure of new snacks to eat and drinks to, well, drink and a large dose of technology to boost immersion.
I had the opportunity to visit Disneyland for the celebration of the 70th anniversary, and it was also my first time in the park. Suffice it to say that it was a lot to enjoy and explore, and very funny. Unfortunately, BDX droids were not there, since these small and pleasant droids are currently on a world tour, with their next Disneyland Paris stop. However, the 70th anniversary activities kept me quite busy.
So now, I am sharing my five favorite things about Disneyland’s 70 celebration and why now it could be the best time to go, either your first time or you know the park like the back of your hand.
Magicband+ unlocks special experiences
The Magicband+ is already a key part of the experiences in Disney Parks worldwide, I am used to using one in Disney World and I have even used it to become a rewards hunter in Batuu in Galaxy’s Edge, but for the Disneyland 70 ° unlocks an immersive and immersive experience with technological technology at any time, day or night.
Commemorating several of the original attractions of Disneyland’s day are new stands with themes of each of them and, he guessed it, a place to scan their magicband+. When scanning its band, the machine will play sounds and theme lights to the walks, but its Magicband+ will also vibrate and light thanks to an incorporated haptic engine and a LED chain.
On the jungle cruise near the Skippers lockers, he even printed a ticket for a VIP tour in ‘The World Famous Jungle Cruise’, letting me know, I would be aboard the “Doncella Mekong”. It is not a real ticket, but certainly a lovely memory.
You will have to go to a treasure search in the park to find them all. These positions are also in a fantasy window next to the Bibbidi Bobbidi boutique, in Frontierland, near the supplies of silver spur, and in Main Street, near the front of the park, is Tilly’s stand. Soon there will be one in the attraction of Autopia in Tomorrowland. The experience will vary, but you will need a Magicband+ to unlock it and create a memory.
Magicband+ can be bought in the park or in advance in the Disney store for $ 34.99. The laptop can be the ticket of its park, a form of payment and a key to unlock interactions around the park. You can monitor the battery level, make software updates and link it to your Mydisney account to link tickets through the Disneyland application for Android or iOS, it will be synchronized with Bluetooth.
Two new projection shows and a fireworks show returns
Disney is known for its live entertainment productions, either projecting on water with World of Color in Disneyland or with complete fireworks shows. Even so, Disneyland’s entertainment offers for 70 extend everywhere.
The highlight for me was two new projection shows, which transformed the outer framework of the It’s a small world Attraction in Disneyland and the Cathay Circle restaurant in Disney California Adventure on widely colorful animated screens with hidden speakers throughout the area playing a fan -swollen soundtrack so that spectators enjoy.

While Cathay Circle is a restaurant, its unique striker and triangular finish have a distinctive canvas for the complex Disney projection system. The resulting light show is impressive and speaks of the Disney technology mapping experience. This show is running every night for about three minutes and is called “Celebrate Happy: a little magic.”
Similarly, it is that the outer layer of a small world is a bit larger, but not just a long flat surface, on the other hand, it has varying heights and depths, with some parts closer to the routes and other parts further back. The result is THE “TAPIZ OF HAPPINESS” Show, which is based on the extensive catalog of Disney characters and stories, but most importantly, other parts of the park, including the haunted mansion and the Caribbean pirates. The design of the screening of scenes is carried out in the style of Mary Blair, the original art director of The Ride.

Both projection programs have an excellent sound, despite the fact that my eagle eyes could not identify exactly where Disney hid the speakers. Trust me, however, it becomes quite noisy. The concealment of technology is used to show stories and give life to the facade with sound everywhere, which is essentially how Disney creates most of these experiences.
Similarly, Disneyland is also bringing back a night show of fans, but it is more than just rockets in heaven. The entire Sleeping Bella Castle serves as a screen for projectors to show vivid animations, many of which are customized, but this also extends to other nearby buildings and in Main Street.
In addition, through the power of what I think is a drone of some kind, “baymax” by Big Hero 6 flies throughout the sky, accompanied by fireworks and epic projections. The “wonderful trips” will run most of the nights and will last just over 15 minutes, so keep in mind that the weather must be correct.

70 ° touches for an iconic trip
Now, I am a great admirer of Toy Story, one of my favorite films, so it makes sense that I enjoy a turn in Toy Story Midway Mania. It happens that it is also a very unfounded trip with technology, with Blasters mounted on a travel vehicle that will rotate and stop in front of large 3D screens. The objectives think of Bullseyes and Dartboards, appear on the screens, allowing you to score points by shooting the wheel.
A soundtrack of the band on progress also accompanies him, interactions with characters such as Buzz, Woody and the men of the green army, as well as explosions of air shooting, and again, quite chaotic images.
It was always a points race, and you want to achieve the highest goals, that is, 500 or 1,000 or 2,000, but Disneyland allows you to move even more in the classification table, up to 70 or 7,000 if you do, since they have added special elements to the game.
Walt Disney Imagineering team used little more than an software -based update to level an already beloved attraction, making it feel fresh and new for the 70th anniversary.
Another trip that received an update was that it is a small world, with Miguel de Coconut palm Like a doll. This classic film is now broadcasting in Disney+, one of the best transmission services. You can also see Toy Story 1 to 4 there and see my colleague Lance Ulanooff drew it to Pixar Typestry, one of the first software pieces that the company made before Toy Story and innumerable other films.
New tasty food, but there is no need to wait in line
I mean, what is a party without food? And Disneyland responded by the so -called 70 new foods, from coffees to feeding it during the day to a 70 things Dessert that was super good. There is something for everyone, and all these snacks and light drinks are available in the stores throughout the park.
All are very sought after, which leads to some long lines, but here is the best advice I can offer you. Use the mobile order through the Disneyland application in iOS and Android. Not only allows you to omit the line and take another walk through Dumbo or any other attraction, but it is also much more perfect.
Once in the park, open the Disneyland application, select the three lines in the lower right corner, touch ‘order food’, select the location and make your selections. You will be given a window to return, and once it is close, it will be “I am here, prepare my food” to start cooking. Then, you will receive a notification with the window number to go, share your name and order name, and you will be ready for delicious food.
The best part, if you are on an iPhone, is that it admits live activities, so you can play “I am here” from the blocking screen without the need to unlock and navigate through the application.
A parade with more than one million LED lights, all synchronized
The amazing moment, and perhaps even a Hallelujah event for Disneyland fans, is the return of Paint’s night parade. Yes, it is wonderfully choreographed with excellent artists and exciting songs, but the real show is the pure amount of color.
As the name implies, the floats, the characters and the costumes are adorned with LED that shine, shine and blink, all in a unified and synchronized rhythm for music. It looks incredible at night. There are eight moments of the parade, which cover floats and artists in several Disney franchises: Tinker Bell, Monsters Inc., Cars, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Disney Princess, Frozen and Mickey and Friends.
It is very impressive, just look at the video and photos, but it goes beyond the chain LED lights. Take the float Monsters Inc., which Sulley and Mike Wazowski Montan: it has more than 21 feet long with 17,000 points of light, but it also has five doors, as seen in the movie, which turn and turn with more than 40 LED video panels.
Or with the cars, beyond Lightning McQueen, the classic Mack truck reinvents with an open rear trailer that is composed of bright orbs that are hung and fill the entire space; In fact, it creates a brilliant depth of 27,000 orbs and 2,000 feet of neon LED that align the trailer.
All these LEDs are controllable, and Disney Live Entertainment uses them all to create a show, combining them with audio speeches and classic songs. Disney shared that there are more than 200 control universes to operate the parade.
In addition, some additional LEDs light and ‘dance’ as those integrated into their Magicband+ go out when the various floats pass. That is magical, well, rfid and knowing its location.
In general, this is scratching the surface of the 70th Disneyland celebration. There are also art facilities of more iconic characters that are configured in the complex to which its Magicband+, a ‘Disneyland key’ that interacts with memorable key wells around the parks, a cube of mickey mouse corn palomites that responds to “Hey Mickey” and a wand of bubbles with a USB-C port for personalized sound effects.
Then, of course, there are all the classic trips, numerous parades and “world of color: happiness”, another night show in which you can vote on certain characters to appear.
The celebration 70 will continue for a year, so there is a lot of time to leave and enjoy everything. Certainly I hope that all these moments of immersion and technological entertainment that improve entertainment are maintained and taken to other parks as well.
