- The S26 Ultra could have a 5,200 mAh capacity battery
- It would be a small increase over the 2025 model.
- A previous leak said that the battery capacity would remain the same.
DJI is expected to launch its first drone with a 360-degree camera in the near future, set to directly compete with the Insta360 Antigravity A1, and a new leak gives us an indication of when the DJI model could launch.
It is expected to be called the DJI Avata 360, and DroneXL has discovered that the flying machine has just received regulatory approval from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
However, there is a possibility that a ban on DJI devices in the United States is coming, which could come into effect on Tuesday, December 23. That will happen unless the US government specifically approves DJI technology as permitted before then.
With that in mind, the DroneXL team hopes that DJI will try to put the 360-degree drone on sale before December 23; otherwise it won’t be available in the US at all. In other words, we may see the DJI Avatar 360 appear any time from now.
Expected specifications
Some important specifications for the drone have been revealed so far, both from the FCC filing and from other sources. It looks like we’re getting a 38.67 Wh (14.32 V) battery, which would be a 26% capacity increase over the DJI Avata 2.
Dual 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors are expected for the camera system, enabling 8K 360-degree video capture at 50 frames per second, with standard 4K/120fps video and 38MP panoramic stills also available.
Four front sensors and two side sensors are expected to avoid obstacles and allow the drone to follow moving subjects. As for connectivity, the OcuSync 4.0 technology will apparently provide a range of up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles).
This should all be official sooner rather than later, even if there remains a lot of uncertainty about DJI in the US. We’ve written a full explanation of what the ban would potentially mean for new and existing DJI products.
