- Rollei Powerflex X8 Compact camera presented with dual lenses
- A lens is an 8x optical zoom, the other a fixed selfie lens
- It costs € 299, which becomes around $ 350 / £ 225 / au $ 535
The Powerflex X8 rollei was presented last week, but the main specifications and the brand of this cheap double lens compact are not exactly what they seem.
As is the case with other cheap and brandless cameras that you can pick up from Amazon, there is a capture with the impressive 64MP 64MP images of Powerflex X8.
The fixed images only of resolution JPEG are achieved through interpolation: this is not a true 64MP camera, but an 8MP with a small 1/2.8 -inch sensor. The 5K video is also interrapted from the 4K / 30P video.
I am not surprised that the camera is promoted as a 64MP / 5K, because the authentic specifications of 8MP / 4K sound much less impressive.
Without being too technical about it, the conclusion is that the great leap in resolution is a digital expansion of an 8MP sensor, so do not wait for the same quality as a true high -resolution camera.
Unlike the non -branded cameras available in line with similar sound specifications, Powerflex X8 has the legendary name of attached Rollei. However, this is not a Ryteryar Rollei camera, but a standard cheap compact camera, only with the license of the Rollei name applied to it, just like it was the Rollei 35AF completely different by MINT.
To be fair, we cannot expect too much from the Powerflex X8 given how cheap it is: € 299 becomes around $ 350 / £ 223 / au $ 535.
The camera includes an 8x optical zoom lens that covers a zoom range of 38-310 mm that is more versatile than that of its phone, although it can be a bit tight for lovers of the angles of high reach, and that has AF/1.8-2.6 Max Aperture.
There is also a simple selfie camera with F/2.2 opening, located on the large 3.6 -inch IPS touch screen. The smaller sensor pixel count (1/3.06 inches) is not mentioned in the specifications, but I have calculated that the focal length of the lens is approximately 24 mm.
The camera’s body is 13.5 OZ / 383G light and presents a generous appearance grip, there is also USB-C connectivity and a microphone input, while the images are recorded on the Micro SD card (they are not supplied).
I have not used the Powerflex X8, but I would expect it to feel good in my hand, complete with a decent range of controls and connectivity. It simply does not have great hope for the image quality you can get from it: cameras as the promise of Powerflex X8, but the reality is something disappointing.
If you are looking for a low -cost compact camera with genuine image quality chops, I have highlighted three of the best cheap cameras available below. I would also recommend seeing the second -hand pargos.
Cheap Compact Chamber Alternatives
The dedicated cameras are not exactly cheap these days, but then there are three alternatives affordable to Powerflex V8.
PANASONIC LUMIX ZS99 / TZ99
A respectable travel zoom pocket, the Lumix ZS99 (known as Tz99 outside the US.) Paste a 30X optical zoom, a turned touch screen and a USB-C load. Like Powerflex V8, it has a small sensor with many smartphones, but its fixed 20MP images are the real business. It is around double the price of the Powerflex X8 rollei, but twice versatile and more pocket. If you do not care to buy a second hand, the Lumix ZS80 / TZ95 older that replaces this model can generally be for a price similar to the Powerflex V8, or less of accredited second -hand retailers.

With specifications similar to the Lumix ZS99 / Tz99, the Sony Cyber-Shot discontinued HX99 is another solid option purchased second-hand, again for a price similar to the new PowerFlex V8. It has a 30x optical zoom with 5 -axis stabilization, already difference from ZS99 presents a visible viewfinder. I have included it here because, at least in the United Kingdom, it can be easily found in second -hand reputation dealers.

When putting the ‘Super’ in Superzoom, Kodak makes a range of what is also known as bridge cameras, most of which can be for less than the Powerflex V8. The AZ245 is one of the best, with 42x optical zoom, fixed 20MP images and DSLR style management, with a great grip and emerging flash. The image quality is not too much either, but this is an extremely versatile Pargo.
