Slough, England:
It is a rare achievement that a book and its corresponding television program is as spectacularly terrible as one of the others in an impressive way, but We were liars It is the unique work of art that carries it out.
No one else will tell you this, by the way. In an attempt to eat hours of his time that will never return, and Lockhart’s We were liars Attempts to sell us the story of Cadence Sinclair, his perfect cousins for the image, his small private island, his idyllic summer vacations bathed in the sun. There is also a terrible tragedy to which the cadence refers but is not worth giving us any detail.
A large part of the reason for the reluctance of Cadence is that it has no memory of any of these terrible things, and no one with a totally fucnting memory in their life considers appropriate to provide answers. In addition, despite the promising title, no one lying here. All are irritatingly obtuse. Cadence stays to play the detective, which makes him approach to launch his remote control or the book when he reaches his tortuous conclusion. We really need to find a way to cure literary amnesia to save future readers the pain of a divagant and incoherent protagonist that could probably have been pushed by a cliff as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, not everyone subscribes to these unpleasant thoughts on fictional amnesics such as cadence. The rambraidated booktokkers who arrived late in the collection of this 2014 sales success, along with the IMDB reviewers who fell in love with the first video sample of the same name that arrived in June, will conspire to catch you in the horror well that is both the book and the limited series. It is not the deceptive fool who falls in love with his solemn promises of excellence, unless he enjoy the incomplete and imaginative prayers that spill from a unreliable teenage narrator who displays a turn that makes him want me to have persecuted on page 1, both of the book and the script. Consider this warning as a public service.
A divago disaster
If it is not yet full of gratitude for this simple public service, it should be, because it has now saved two days of skimming through tedious descriptions of headaches induced by the trauma of our heroin. And don’t feel that you will stay out of this headache party if you just plan to see the program! You show the observers will also experience your fair part of We were liars-Do -headed heads after intense first -flat bright blonde hair and bright white teeth. Before being everything in my arms, we must make it clear, we are not discriminating against dental hygiene and bright hair; What we are saying is that one should not have to reach the sunglasses when they are in extreme closed rooms with teeth that dazzle like the sun and dominate the screen, certainly not one that we are narrowing the eyes on these teeth on television instead of our phones.
Anyway, what form of trauma has caused the cadence to be plagued by its pains and pains is not clarified immediately; What is certainly clear is that that catches them, and it keeps us all in the circuit without thinking for comas or, in fact, the score of any description, at least not in the traditional sense. Discharge of scaffolding and structure, Cadence prayers melt with each other with not the delicacy of sugar that accumulates in caramel in a hot pan, but more like snaps of instant coffee that are spilled in a wet kitchen floor. You stay with mud, a disaster that would desire that a nearby adult cleans, until you remember that you are the only adult in the vicinity, and no one else comes to do any cleaning. In doing so, Cadence has become the Holden Coufield of the 21st century, which is not the excellent recommendation of the lovers of the recommendation of Catchr in the Rye I would like to think it is.
Irritating comrades
Like all his fellow teenage protagonists, Cadence also has a love interest in his age that goes through ‘Gat’. Gat is the mountain of his capulet, his rose cat. We are informed both in the book and in the program (through the expository monologue of Cadence), that GAT is “contemplation and enthusiasm. Ambition and strong coffee”. In case we miss it, we are reminded repeatedly, although the first time we get this initial description of it is when Cadence and Gat are eight years old, so what she knows about ambition or strong coffee at that age is a bit of a question sign. Perhaps strong coffee is a metaphor for the color of Gat’s skin (due to its Indian heritage, which of course must have a food -oriented description if we have any hope of imagining how it looks). It is certainly not because Gat is a caffeine addict. We still have to deduce what levels of ambition or contemplation cat radiated at the age of eight that were chosen by young cadences.
Gat is not the only person who receives such thirty allegories. Both in Page and on the screen, the cousins and best friends of Cadence, John and Mirren, come with similar labels. John, apparently, is “rebound, effort and sarcastic.” Miren, meanwhile, is “sugar, curiosity and rain.” How is one loaded with spring with effort or sugar? This, like Gat’s ambition and coffee, remains temptingly unclear, although if at least one easily impressed reviewer is believed, all this is indicative of “beautifully executed prose, replacement, precise and lyric.”
In addition to being Snark, Sugar and Strong Coffee, John, Mirren and Gat form the rock bed of the annual slander holidays of Cadence, which, as you can have guessed due to the presence of the bad mysterious, are not as idyllic as the lyrical prose or the shots of close hair with the sun’s shit. Will the best friends of Cadence help her find the answers I seek so desperately and tediously?
If you are the type of reader who prefers that your book or show adhere to the genre that has been promised in propaganda, then I have even more bad news for you, because We were liars Take freedom here too. With a plot that moves with the speed of a lazy old man with arthritis, we must ask ourselves: are we dealing with a mystery of murder? A supernatural thriller? A medical drama? Is any of this real? BookTokkers are high?
The good news is that we end up receiving answers for most of these questions. The bad news is that the answers will probably send it to a spiral of wrath cleaning while trying to eliminate them from their mind. (Thoughts and prayers if it embarks on this foolish book or an exhibition trip during a long distance flight, when the advantages of IRA cleaning are not available to you). In summary, I trust that this public service message will have made it very clear that it should definitely recommend We were liars – Both in show and book format, a very detested enemy.
