- Roku has a new home page design to make key sections faster to find
- Very a job in progress and it is likely to change again
- You can choose not to participate if the update is offered
If your Roku TV home screen seems to have been redesigned during the night, do not worry: it only means that you are one of the few chosen ones that can see what the next evolution of the Roku TV interface could be.
As the Verge reports, Roku is testing a rejigged version of the home page with a small number of Roku users to evaluate whether or not they like it. The company is “trying some different approaches” to the functionality of the home page, explained Roku’s Preston Smalley. “We are definitely trying to see how much people’s control want, but that is something we want to hear from customers.”
What is changing on the Roku TV beginning screen?
Although this is only a test, it indicates the most likely changes that reach their home page in the not too distant future. The first thing that will notice is that the start button in its remote control takes it directly to the main grid instead of the sidebar, which is where it takes it in the current version.
Live TV and Free Free have moved from the sidebar to the main network to make them more obvious; Roku says that these “convincing and delicious destinations” were not being used by many people, and expect a more prominent location to mean that more people will be forced and delighted.
The fast access section is designed to make it easier to see your favorite applications, but for now it is automated: Verge says you cannot manually eliminate applications or add different.
Under a fast access is “the best in all your transmission services”, which is the new home for the television live and presented free options, as well as subscriptions and for you, which, as expected, is where you will find personalized recommendations.
This is a work in progress, so if you have it on your TV Roku, you can change again during the test phase, and if you are one of the few chosen, it is not mandatory, so you can choose not to participate in the test if you prefer to wait for the final version.
