- iOS 26.0.1 is now implemented for compatible devices
- Fix some connectivity and camera errors in the new iPhones
- iOS 18.7.1 is also out for older phones
Big iOS 26 was launched a couple of weeks ago, and iOS 26.0.1 is now available. While it is not a great update, it presents some corrections of important errors for several Air iPhone 17 and iPhone models, so it is worth installing it as soon as possible.
As reported by Macrumors, the notes of the iOS version 26.0.1 mention solutions for connectivity problems and photo failures in the new 2025 iPhones, as well as for problems with blank application icons (when applying a personalized dye) and the voice function in OFF.
We cover the flashing problems of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth last week, which caused users of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air lose active connections when unlocking their phones. This affected links to other devices, such as Carplay panels.
And we have also written previously about the photo problem, where the particular types of LED lighting that shine in the cameras of these new models, perhaps in a concert, would cause white pinch and black rectangles to appear in the images. Apple recognized that problem, but said it was “very rare.”
First problems
While it is not ideal to see that errors and failures appear in a new smartphone, nor is it unexpected: most new phones now come with at least one or two attached problems, regardless of the brand. Google Pixel 10 owners have been informing wireless load problems with older loaders, for example.
As frustrating as these errors are, they seem to have affected only a minority of the new models, and Apple has at least been fast in the solution. There is also a new update of iOS 18.7.1 for older iPhones that do not admit iOS 26 (that is basically before iPhone 11).
It was a similar story last year, with some random restarts and touch screen problems initially informed by the owners of the iPhone 16 phones around the moment 18 landed. As with this year, software corrections were broadcast quickly.
There is likely more error corrections along the way in the coming weeks, and iOS 26.1 is already in beta tests. However, these software updates cannot do anything for your iPhone if you are seeing an excessive amount of scratch.
