- The update program is called LG Re:New
- Select LG TVs will receive five years of webOS updates
LG has revealed the timeline for the release of webOS 24 and webOS 25 on older models starting in 2024 and earlier, as reported by FlatpanelsHD.
The launch is part of LG’s Re:New program, where select older LG TVs will receive five years of webOS updates. For example, a 2024 LG TV, such as the LG C4, one of the best TVs released in 2024, will be updated each year to the next version of the web operating system in its lifecycle. So at the end of 2025 it is scheduled to be updated to webOS 25, at the end of 2026 it will receive webOS 2026 and so on.
With older models, say the 2023 LG C3, you will be updated to webOS 24 in early 2025 and receive webOS 25 in late 2025/early 2026, and so on.
The complete schedule is as follows:

2022 | OLED, 8K QNED, StanbyME GO | Fourth quarter of 2024 – First quarter of 2025 | webOS 24 |

2024 | OLED, QNED, LCD | Fourth quarter of 2025 – First quarter of 2025 | webOS 25 |
The company’s webOS 25 will arrive bundled with LG 2025 TVs, including its 2025 line of OLED TVs and its 2025 line of QNED TVs, which were first revealed at CES 2025. WebOS 25 itself has seen several updates regarding its predecessor, webOS 2024. and most focus on AI. LG has even adopted the ‘LG AI TV’ moniker for the 2025 batch of displays.
Some of the webOS 25 updates include AI Search (US and Korea only, at launch), where AI will perform an advanced search based on user questions for recommended content, as well as AI Concierge, where Users will be recommended movies, TV shows, and keywords based on their viewing history.
There is also the AI Generative Art store, where users can spend credits to create AI-generated images. There have also been updates to AI Picture Wizard and AI Sound Wizard, which will now remember different users’ preferred picture and sound profiles.
AI Chatbot, introduced in webOS 24, can now also make changes to image and sound settings to suit the user; For example, if you ask it to “make the screen brighter”, it will increase the brightness.
A welcome improvement
We haven’t had a chance to try webOS 25 yet, but we liked webOS 24, with 3 updates that stand out in particular. We also give it a high score in our LG 2024 reviews, thanks to its streamlined design, updated Quick Cards system, and streamlined Quick Menu.
The LG Re:New program is welcome as it means users don’t have to spend money to upgrade their TV to get the latest smart TV features and services and, more importantly, the latest security updates. for at least 5 years from the first purchase.
LG likened the update to a full operating system update like you’d find on better phones, say an iPhone going from iOS 17 to iOS 18, rather than a simple update you’d find in an app.
While some may not like the change in design, layout, and features every year, LG’s web OS updates in recent years have been significant and have generally seen good updates and improvements over their previous generations.
