- Windows 11 has a new energy saving function in the tests
- Enter when you leave your laptop for a period of time
- While it is outside, the energy administration configuration ensures that a minimum battery amount is used, and when it returns, things instantly return to normal
Windows 11 will receive new capabilities to preserve the battery life of your laptop with the introduction of a new characteristic in the tests recently.
The last Windows was admitted in this case, with the energy management function revealed in a preview of a couple of weeks ago (which the site was lost at that time, and I did it too).
Microsoft calls this “Energy Administration of the user interaction CPU” functionality, but to be fair, that describes how it works.
The idea is that when you let your laptop go and do something else, and maybe it is distracted, Windows 11 will notice that it has gone and no longer interacts with the device.
In these cases, after an established period of time, Windows will apply energy consumption reduction measures to extend the battery life, because although it does not use the laptop, it will not be concerned about what that could do to performance (obviously).
When you return to your device and start using it again, Microsoft promises that “full performance [is] instantly restored “as they expect.
ANALYSIS: PROMISES AND WARNINGS
There is no problem here, then, at least if what Microsoft maintains here is true: that as soon as you use your device again, the complete performance is instantly Back at your fingertips. If there is a little delay in terms of response response, that could be annoying, depending on how much, but we will take the word of Microsoft to the letter that this will not be a problem.
However, the company mentions a warning, which is that Power Savings Windows 11 users will benefit. They will depend on the power plan chosen in the operating system, and if your laptop is plugged in, and also the processor power management configuration as defined by the manufacturer.
In the last case, this means that there may be factors that the manufacturer of laptops has implemented that affect the amount of battery life that can preserve the function.
If you do not want this functionality, there will be a way to turn it off, presumably under the Windows Energy Administration configuration 11. However, I cannot see why you do not want additional battery savings to occur in this way, provided that the function works as perfectly as Microsoft suggests.
With this new energy management trick in the tests, it seems that there is a good possibility that it will arrive with Windows 11 25h2 at the end of this year. This is an area in which Microsoft has been working quite recently, including the renewed energy drink with Windows 11 24h2.
