Miami Dolphins Star receiver Tyreek Hill made it pretty clear after Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets that he was ready to move on, but according to general manager Chris Grier, that wasn’t the case the next day.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Grier addressed hill commentsadding that he and head coach Mike McDaniel met with the veteran receiver on Monday to discuss his postgame comments and the fact that he appeared to leave the game early.
“I will say that Mike and I had conversations with Tyreek here yesterday, productive conversations. I’ll keep them between us,” he said, according to the team transcript.

“The only thing I would say is that in a frustrating season, he was very excited in a game where we had a chance to come back from 2-6 down. I would say that’s probably what I’m most proud of about the players, Mike and the coaching staff; that we were 2-6 and we were playing Week 18 to potentially sneak into the playoffs and I think that whole thing with him playing through his injury just came to a point and from our conversations, again, we’ll stick with it. privately, but we had conversations productive”.
Grier said that while Hill did not “retract” his comments, he did not specifically request a trade.
“No, I would say, but he never asked a trade with me.”
TYREEK HILL CHANNELS ANTONIO BROWN AFTER OBSERVATIONS ON THE FUTURE WITH THE DOLPHINS
The Dolphins’ slim chances of making the playoffs faded with a 30-22 loss to the now-eliminated Jets on Sunday. Hill was unavailable in the fourth quarter and indicated after the game that he was ready to move on.
“This is the first time I’m not in the playoffs,” he said. “For me, I have to do what’s best for me and my family, whether that’s here or wherever that may be. I’m going to open that door for me. I’m opening the door.
“I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for my career… I’m too much of a competitor to be out there.” “.
McDaniel echoed Grier’s perspective on Monday’s meeting, adding that he also agreed with Hill on his decision to leave the game early.
“I was very direct with him. He was very honest and the terms we were discussing were excellent. We discussed multiple things, including, without hesitation, that abandoning a game is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in the future, and he embraced responsibility.”
Of their relationship, McDaniel added: “I wouldn’t say there was necessarily anything to fix, as much as we had to clear things up in a difficult and tumultuous situation.”
