- AI PCS will be “the standard” by 2029, says Gartner
- American tariffs are causing some winds against, but this could be temporary
- Prices are also going down, so companies can splash
AI PCs will represent almost a third (31%) of the global PC market at the end of 2025, with an estimated 77.8 million units that are expected to be sent, they have affirmed new figures.
This growth does not show signs of deceleration, with PC with the capacity to dominate the market with a 55% participation next year (equalizing 143 million units), they have affirmed the latest Gartner figures.
Factoring in update cycles and market trends, Garnter says that the PCs will be “the standard” by 2029 in workplaces and households.
PC AI are gaining popularity for the year
The figures show that this PC market segment has already doubled since 2024 (15.6% compared to 31%), with laptops remain a firm favorite, and laptops of AI have more than twice the market share than AI desktop computers.
Gartner’s senior analyst, Ranjit Atwal, said that although adoption has slowed down a little due to geopolitical rates, “users will invest in the PC of AI to make sure they are prepared for the growing integration of AI on the edge.”
Canalys main analyst, Ben Yeh, agreed: “Evolutionary tariff policies of the Trump administration continue to remodel the global PC supply chains while launching a significant uncertainty about market recovery.”
The separate investigation of the Canals discovered that the PCs with the capacity of AI had reached a market share of 23% in the fourth quarter of 2024, more in the average of 17% of the full year.
This adoption has been helped by the fact that the PCs are beginning to lie on the market after some iterations, for example, Apple’s M computers are considered with the capacity of AI. When they are up to five years, prices have dropped, democratizing access to the consumer to a powerful machinery.
Looking towards the future, Gartner predicts more developments to allow multiple small language models to run locally on the PC of AI at the end of 2026, compared to zero in 2023.
